ARMCO´s group is a leading company in Latin America when it comes to tailor-made re-rolled metal solutions and product ranges.
With technological solidity, we offer support to the business units, ensuring that all ARMCO Group companies bring complete solutions to their customers, standing out for the quality of their products, both in large and small volumes.
With a focus on operational efficiency, ARMCO’s plant has a production capacity of 22,000 tons per month, guaranteed by quality certificates: ISO 9001, ISO IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.

Through a modern effluent treatment system, we guarantee the treatment of 100% of the water used in our production process.

HistoryOur history
Beginning
- 1900 - First office in Middletown, Ohio, USA.
- 1912, First sewage cover installed in Rio de Janeiro.
- 1914 - First factory in Brazil.
1920 to 1929
- Development of the hot rolling process - USA.
- In 1924, the Brazilian government recognizes ARMCO's first subsidiary in Brazil.
- In 1925, Armco sets up its first sewage cover factory in São Paulo.
1930 to 1939
- ARMCO starts selling steel plates and profiles, electrodes and electric welding equipment.
- Headquarters of the Middletown plant that gave rise to the ARMCO complex in Brazil.
- Continuous Rolling Process - USA
1940 to 1949
- ARMCO supplies products for the construction of several highways, such as the Via Anchieta.
- In 1945, it builds its third factory in Brazil, in Porto Alegre.
- In 1947, it opens a welded steel pipe factory for water supply in Honório Gurgel, RJ.
1950 to 1959
- In 1950, ARMCO builds another factory and expands its facilities in Honório Gurgel.
- From this moment on, ARMCO stops selling imported products and starts concentrating on producing them.
1960 to 1969
- ARMCO "discovers" the sector that will make it market leader: steel re-rolling.
- In 1969, it acquires 60% of the shares from Cogeral (Cia. Geral de Laminação), in São Paulo. ARMCO in Vila Prudente, in 1969
1970 to 1979
- In 1970, ARMCO acquires the remaining shares from Cogeral.
- In 1978, it opens a welding products factory in Sumaré, in the interior of São Paulo.
- In 1979, it installed re-rolling equipment from Icopasa in Vila Prudente, increasing production by 1,500 tons/month ('Project 1500').
1980 to 1989
- In 1981, ARMCO set up the Vila Nova unit in São Paulo.
- In 1982, it celebrates its 70th anniversary in Brazil.
- In 1984, acquired from Aços do Brasil a cold rolling mill operation, becoming the only company in the Americas to produce copper-plated strips for the manufacture of "Bundy" tubes.
- In 1985, it incorporated Equipetrol, inaugurated a service center in São Paulo and began operating LM-04 - the largest electrolytic zinc coating line in Latin America and the first in Brazil.
- In 1986, it acquires a 78,000 m² factory belonging to GE and started ARMCO SANTO ANDRE unit.
1990 to 1995
- n 1993, ARMCO becomes 100% Brazilian company, but a technical assistance contract with ARMCO Research in the United States guarantees technology transfer.
- In 1994, the effluent treatment plant (ETE) was inaugurated in Vila Prudente.
- In 1995, it receives ISO 9002 certification, launches a new organic coating system for electro-galvanized products and incorporates all of Metal Leve's rolling activities.
- Invests in equipment as COLD ROLLING MILL and longitudinal transversal and PIVOT type shears.
1996 to 1998
- In 1996, was created the Plantar Project in Vila Prudente and inaugurated Tecsteel in São Bernardo do Campo.
- In 1997, launched Aços da Amazônia in Manaus and set up a joint venture with the US company ITW (Illinois Tool Works), creating Signode Brasileira S.A.
- In 1998, STARTED the "HARDENING & TEMPERING Project", with the modern EBNER H&T facility.
2000 ARMCO IN THE 21ST CENTURY
- 2000 – The digital customer service system is implemented: Armco Online and also the second COLD ROLLING MILL.
- 2002 – R$3 million is invested in the acquisition of three box annealing HPH with 6 basis from LOI- High Performane Hydrogen - high convection ANNEALING ovens.
- 2003 – The Vila Nova business unit was implemented, with the aim of serving small quantities with agility and flexibility.
- In May, ARMCO signs a cooperation agreement with the BILSTEIN Group in Germany, which is the largest and most diversified company for re-rolled products in Europe, and one of the largest in the world. In October, Armco receives ISO/TS:16949 and ISO 9001 certification from BVQI.
2006 to 2009
- 2006 – In August, the new factory in the Industrial District I of Manaus was expanded and inaugurated. In May, ARMCO's Environmental Management System was upgraded to version ISO 14001. In October, ARMCO was awarded the ISO TS 16949- 2007.
- 2007 – version of the Quality Management System. In April, Aços da Amazônia was recommended for ISO 14001 certification and recertified for ISO 9001.
- 2008 –In July, Armco starts the activities of the Group's newest company, Intacta Sistemas de Embalagem Ltda
- 2009 – In September, Projeto Plantar receives the LIF award for best educational project from the Brazil-France Chamber of Commerce.
2010 to 2013
- ARMCO is recertified in the OHSAS 18001 safety standard.
- 2011 - The companies Tecsteel and Stripsteel join forces.
- ARMCO celebrates 100 years of history and activity in Brazil.
Dec/2013
- With an investment of R$230 million, ARMCO do Brasil started a new greenfield project located at Jacareí, on a site with a total area of 310,000 square meters and an area of 45,000 square meters.
- The plant's production capacity will be up to 80,000 tons of steel per year.
2018 to 2023
2022 – 100% of the plant was in Jacareí - SP2021 - Business Restructuring
- 2023 – Strategic planning for the challenges of the next five years.
